Inside Hans Zimmer’s Studio

German-born composer Hans Zimmer is recognized as one of Hollywood's most innovative musical talents, having first enjoyed success in the world of pop music as a member of The Buggles. The group's single Video Killed the Radio Star became a worldwide hit and helped usher in a new era of global entertainment as the first music video to be aired on MTV.

"Hard to believe, but it takes HDR to capture this room - conventional camera sensors fail miserably. The whole room is just dark, light-absorbing surfaces (velvet, wood) and a few pointed light sources. There's no way to just "take a photo of it". - Peter Gorges.

This image is created from 6 exposures (0.7 bracketing), processed in Photomatix Pro, with tons of subtle manual color and light corrections in Niksoftware Viveza, and some Nik Sharpener Pro.

Boryeong Mud Festival - Down and dirty

The Boryeong Mud Festival is an annual festival which takes place during the summer in Boryeong, a town around 200 km south of Seoul, South Korea. Running from July 19 to 28 this year, the annual two week festival has been gaining international recognition since its conception in 1998.

The mud is taken from the Boryeong mud flats, and trucked to the Daecheon beach area, where it is used as the centrepiece of the 'Mud Experience Land'. The mud is considered rich in minerals and used to manufacture cosmetics. The festival was originally conceived as a marketing vehicle for Boryeong mud cosmetics.

Although the festival takes place over a period of around two weeks, it is most famous for its final weekend, which is popular with Korea's western population. The final weekend of the festival usually falls on the second weekend in July.
