Realistic Sculptures by Mark Newman (11 PHOTOS)

Here are some of sculptor Mark Newman’s most awe-inspiring creations. His work seems so realistic, even though his subject matter is very unrealistic. This combination is not only exciting, but a veritable treat as well.

Newman has chosen for his subject creatures from mythologies, comics, stories and even video games. There is a Wolverine amongst his sculptures as well as what could be Kratos from the God of War Play Station games. There is Frankenstein in all his pitiable state as well as what could be Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. On one hand, there is a King Kong and on the other there is a gymnast.

The beauty of the sculptures is that the skill of the sculptor makes them look extremely life like, even though the sculptures themselves are of creatures that are mostly mythological or fantastical, mainly figments of our collective imagination.

Chloe Dickey creates stunning sculptures using beaches

A young woman with a passion for art has begun using the beach as her blank canvas and is creating beautiful designs in the process.

But Chloe Dickey's sand sculptures aren't like the usual dolphin and turtle designs that are etched into beaches, she uses patterns and geometrical shapes to express herself.

The 24-year-old from Lake Cathie, NSW, works in the wet sand at low tide meaning her drawings don't stick around for long when the waves roll in.

Chloe only got into sand sketching by accident after she saw a story online and thought her art would translate well onto the sand.

"Liquid sculptures" by Tapan Sheth

It may have taken six months, hundred of pictures and endless patience, but the efforts of Indian photographer Tapan Sheth have all been worth it after he managed to capture these stunning images of 'water sculptures'.

Sheth, from Rajkot, in Gujarat, added coloured dye to liquid along with guar gum, a food thickener similar to cornflour, then set up his camera equipment.

The 34-year-old got these mesmerising images by letting a drop fall into the rest of the liquid, then quickly pressing the camera shutter.

He said: 'There are lots of things involved in the photography of liquid sculptures. There is proper preparation, setup, controller and much more required to get the effect.

'The most important part is the passion; if you don't have passion you really won't able to achieve this. From 100's of clicks I hardly get five to ten perfect shots. Sometimes a complete session could fail.'

Many form into umbrella-like shapes, while some seem to mimic mushrooms and others look like trees with one resembling a cup.

Tapan added: 'After many failed attempts and efforts I got the result I was looking for for my liquid sculpture photography.

I really can't believe the reaction I get, it's simply awesome when you praised by people around the world. When I see my pictures, I don't have words for what I see. Liquid sculptures are a jewel for me.'

Glazed Paradise by Mark Jenkins

Mark Jenkins (born 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia) is an American artist most widely known for the street installations he creates using clear packing tape. Jenkins' practice of street art is to use the "street as a stage" where his sculptures interact with the surrounding environment including passersby who unknowingly become actors. His installations often draw the attention of the police. His work has been described as whimsical, macabre, shocking and situationist. Jenkins cites Juan Muñoz as his initial inspiration.

In addition to creating art, he also teaches his sculpture techniques and installation practices through workshops. He currently lives in Washington, DC.
