Creative Paintings by Stephan Balleux

Stephan Balleux is a belgian artist based in Berlin, Germany. His work is dealing with position of painting in our digital age.The various techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, video and special effects) constitute as many fields of investigation. From these experiences emerges an image, in constant change, erasing any temporality. Like a virus, the pictorial texture propagates itself and its digitalization becomes an eminently contemporary process.

He has held solo exhibition since 1992.Most recently: "They Shoot Horses Don't They" at Wardlow Melbourne (2009) and Brothers at Think.21 gallery, Brussels(2008).His work has featured in curated shows in Europe, including The Belgique visionnaire at Bozar, Brussels(BE), Un-scene at Wiels center for contemporary art, Brussels(BE), Video killed the painting star at domus 2002, Salamanca(SP), Pushing the canvas at De Garage, Mechelen(BE), Victorian Circus II at Brakkegrond, Amsterdam(NL), Stippels & pixels at De cirk, Gent (BE).Balleux’s work is held in collections including Ixelles Museum, Brussels and numerous private collections. He holds a master from the HISK, Belgium, and has lectured at Tellic Art Exchange, L.A., and at the Brussels's University.Balleux is represented by Think.21 gallery, Brussels.
